Transparency Code For Smaller Authorities 

Transparency is the foundation of local accountability and the key that gives people the tools and information they need to enable them to play a bigger role in society.  The Department for Communities and Local Government published a Code on behalf of the Secretary of State, to meet the Government’s desire to place more power into citizens’ hands to increase democratic accountability and make it easier for local people to contribute to the local decision-making process and help shape public services.

  • Notice of public inspection of accounts for period ending 31 March 2024 Published here
  • All items of expenditure above £1000 - Published in monthly  agenda and minutes
  • End of year accounts including; a) a copy of the bank reconciliation for the relevant financial year, b) an explanation of any significant variances (e.g. more than 10-15 percent) in the statement of accounts for the relevant year and previous year and c) an explanation of any differences between ‘balances carried forward’ and ‘total cash and short term investments’, if applicable - Published here
